We participated in the "Smarter Organization" event series by Business Tampere, where the transformation of traditional industries in the age of artificial intelligence was discussed. My segment, which was the last one, focused on leveraging AI in business.
Utilizing Artificial Intelligence in Business
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the most significant technologies to reshape the business environment. Its potential is immense, but leveraging it requires careful planning and strategy. In this blog post, I will discuss how companies can utilize AI in their business operations and what considerations need to be taken into account. It is crucial to act quickly, as AI is advancing rapidly, and no one wants to be left behind.
Strategic Objectives
The first step in leveraging AI is to define strategic objectives. There is a significant difference between focusing on developing individual AI solutions and creating a company-wide strategy that encompasses the entire AI strategy of the company. Is the future of the company dependent on the adoption of AI, or is it seen merely as a useful addition, for example, in customer service? Additionally, it is important to consider whether competitors are already utilizing AI in their operations and whether the strategic goal is to reach their level or even surpass it. If competitors are already ahead, it is critical to close the gap.
Objectives for Use
The objectives for using AI can vary greatly depending on the needs of the company. Is the goal to reduce costs, improve customer experience, increase sales, enhance the company's competitiveness, or all of the above and more? What problem or process do we want to improve with AI? What pain points, such as in customer experience, do we want to address? Answering these questions helps to define clear objectives for the use of AI. It is important to act now because your competitors have likely already considered and possibly implemented their own AI adoption.
Constraints on Use
There are also potential constraints to consider when adopting AI. The company may not have enough necessary material, i.e., data, to train the AI. The company's software and infrastructure may be outdated and require updating. Security and privacy are extremely critical issues for the company, and the need for a fully customized system may require a large budget for both the project and the infrastructure. Additionally, the company's staff may fear losing their jobs due to the adoption of AI tools, which can cause resistance. Addressing these constraints should begin as soon as possible to ensure that your company can adopt AI without unnecessary delays.
Implementing AI
Once the strategy and objectives are defined, it is time to map out the business processes where AI could potentially be utilized. A strategy is developed, and the goals you want to achieve with the use of AI are defined. Our clients do not initially need to have their own AI expertise or infrastructure. We select, integrate, and develop the most suitable AI solutions for our clients' needs. We take care of the system's maintenance, development, and training. In the future, familiarizing oneself with AI and training is strongly recommended for clients to gain a full understanding of AI's possibilities and generate more ideas for development.
When Do We Start?
AI is already here, and companies that do not leverage its possibilities will inevitably fall behind their competitors. Now is the time to act and ensure that your company is ready for the AI era. AI can be the key to success, and we are here to help you achieve it. Act quickly, as AI is advancing rapidly, and no one wants to be left behind.
