Who are you?
I’m Santtu, a Software Test Developer / Test Engineer. I recently graduated with a Master of Science in Engineering, focusing on automation, software development, and robotics. I get easily excited about new things and enjoy exploring how things work and trying out new ideas.
What do you do at AtoZ, and how long have you been a #AtoZperson?
I started at AtoZ in spring/summer 2024 as a summer employee and continued until I began working on my master’s thesis toward the end of the year. Right after finishing my thesis, I returned to the company, and I think I might be one of the youngest #AtoZpeople in the company.
How did you end up at AtoZ?
I ended up at AtoZ somewhat by chance through a previously familiar client. I was originally already involved in one team, and when the opportunity arose to move to an AtoZ team, the decision felt like a natural next step.
What’s the best part of your job?
Definitely the people and the interesting projects! I really value that the work is diverse both in terms of topics and level of challenge. The best part is getting to creatively apply my own thinking to software projects while learning something new at the same time. By far my favorite projects have involved working with Docker container-based virtualization and developing new things around it.
Share a technical fun fact related to your field, or something you’re currently excited about.
Did you know that you can create tests for tests, which can then be tested by other tests?
If you were a superhero, what would your superpower be?
Definitely teleportation.
What skill would you like to learn next?
Mountaineering, and especially ice climbing. In particular, conquering a truly challenging mountain—assuming that counts as a skill…
Which song best represents your life right now?
At the time of writing: Avicii – The Days.
If you could spend a day with anyone, who would it be and why?
If Iron Man weren’t fictional, definitely Tony Stark. Otherwise, I’d spend a day with Jensen Huang. It would be fascinating to hear his perspectives.
What’s the best thing about AtoZ?
The openness—and of course, the people.
Tell us a surprising fact about yourself that others might not know or guess.
I enjoy hiking and have climbed the highest mountains in Sweden and Norway. My dream is to conquer an even more challenging mountain one day, for example in Nepal.
What do you like to do in your free time?
In my free time, besides hiking and fishing, I enjoy fine-tuning things—especially when it comes to cooking. I also get easily excited about anything where you can “geek out” a bit; almost anything can become gear-focused if you want it to. As a more unusual hobby, I design and build my own furniture. In addition, I’m an enthusiastic follower of Formula 1 and occasionally rally racing as well.
If you were an animal, what would you be and why?
I’d be an eagle—able to observe the world calmly from great viewpoints.
Finally, what’s your funniest work-related memory from AtoZ?
I haven’t been at the company long enough to single out one specific moment, but the office meetups and the great atmosphere during them have especially stayed in my mind.
